Basic Skills Necessary:

  • paper piecing, rotary cutting,hand or machine applique"

Pattern Description:

I was inspired by the beautiful fall colors of the trees around my house. It a fun pattern to make featuring a variety of quilting techniques to make the work more interesting. Even though it has a traditional look the log cabin are made with pieced blocks in the center instead of a plain one. The border is made with" log cabin like "blocks, with strips on 45 degree angle to give a weaved look.

  • 94"x 94"


  • Background #1 - 1 3/4 yards, Background #2 - 2 1/2 yards, Background #3 - 5/8 yard Green #1 ( for leaves/log cabins blocks) - 5/8 yard, Green # 2 (for third border) - 5/8 yard, Medium fall print - 2 1/2 yards, Medium maroon - 1 1/2 yards, Dark maroon print (includes binding) - 3 yards , Left over fabric from your favorite stash or 1 1/8 yard rust color (leaves), Freezer paper cut 8 1/2"x 11"(55 pages), Batting 108"x 108", Backing 108"x 108"

  • rotary cutter, thread matching the applique' fabric, rulers, freezer paper
