I like this quilt because it doesn't have a border. Very nice.

Some quilts I like borders and I think they look great. But I also enjoy a lot quilts with out borders and have made many quilts that way.

would this be hard to adapt to a lap or twin size quilt?

No it would work really well for going up in size. Its just a matter of figuring out what width and height you want and add squares across and down. I am thinking to make a twin size for my son in fact.

I'm wondering how this could be adapted for a larger quilt... full or queen size? I'm new at quilting and this looks like a good beginner quilt.

I made a twin size quilt out of them and it looked fantastic.

I don't think there would be any adaptation necessary for a quilt like this. Just keep making HST's until it is as big as you want! It is lovely, Richard!!!

They are not as bad as some think. They are a fun block to use.

My last attempt at triangles (a double pinwheel) failed (I couldn't figure how to not get the pieces to stretch too much). This looks like a simpler way to re-attempt triangles.

JessRB, have you ever tried half-square triangle paper to make your triangles? Laundry Basket Quilts puts out papers for many sizes. I also use a program called "Triangulations" by Brenda Henning. I like them both and you will have no stretching at all. Something tells me you are handling your triangles too much or you are pulling at them somehow. Just cut and don't touch too much. Otherwise, use those papers I mentioned.

Lovely pattern! Great way to display some favourite fabrics as well I'd say.

Half Square Triangle Quilts are a fantastic quilt to remind you of Grandma. I love the reunion fabric line in this quilt.

Thank you. I am a huge fan of the Reunion Fabric line. I originally started buying fat quarters and then half yards of various prints in the line. it was funny by the time I made my first quilt I was only missing one or two of the prints. So when it started to run low I again bought more. This time opting for the full fat quarter bundle which is what I used when making this quilt.
