Pattern Description:

This Goldfinch block is one of the twenty-eight 8" blocks in my 'Symbols of Our Unity' quilt.

You can purchase one pattern or all twenty-eight to make the entire quilt. One block made into a 'mini-quilt' will fit nicely into the Ackfeld 12" x 14" table stand. Make one for a friend with their state bird.

These blocks can be done with needleturn, fusible, or machine applique. Pick your favorite method.

  • 8" square finished

Materials:

  • One 9" square background fabric
  • One 7" square light yellow fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One 7" square black fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One 7" square brown fabric for tree branch
  • One 4" square medium gray fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One 3" square light gray fabric for bird (see photo)
  • One scrap white fabric for bird (see photo)
  • Plastic Template
  • Applique thread to match fabrics
  • Black, light gray, medium green, light green, medium brown, and white embroidery floss
