This placemat only looks difficult. It is really very simple construction and a set of 4 or more can be finished quickly for the holidays.
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- 12" x 18"
Materials:
- Sewing machine and basic sewing tools.
- 8 different fat quarters for fan tail
- 1 fat quarter for head
- 1 fat quarter for body (Dark Brown or Black)
- 1/8 yard Black felt for snood and eyes ( or black fabric)
- 1/8 yard Gold for bill
- 1 yard for backing
You Will Also Need:
- 1 yard fusible fleece or batting
- 1/8 medium or lightweight fusible interfacing (optional)
- 1 sheet Template plastic (optional)

Then I was introduced to the quilt world. I found myself doing patterns and samples for a friend . My love of designing and writing have now become one. I guess you can say, the rest is history.
Everyone always asks, where did you get the name, Pure Joy Patterns. My mother's name was Joye. My sister, Janyce and her husband Jim make custom jewelry with their business and made Mother a necklace years ago that said 100% Pure Joye. I always loved the necklace and decided to use the concept as my company name. My mother passed away in 2007, so it is also in remembrance of her.
