Since retiring from my teaching career I've discovered that there is life outside of the classroom! I spend parts of most of my days indulging in my favorite hobbies of quilting and sewing. I started designing patterns as an experiment, and no one was more surprised than I was to find that other people liked my little designs. I try to write my patterns in such a way that beginning quilters can follow them. I include lots of details, photos, and little informative notes, so even if they look complicated, the instructions should be easy to follow.

"Will you walk into my parlour?" said the Spider to the Fly,
'Tis the prettiest little parlour that ever you did spy;..."
Two spiders! One for any time of year and the other for Halloween.
One little spider looks so very friendly, in her beautiful garden, and the other is definitely scary! The friendly spider may look innocent, but one must still be wary of inviting webs and enchanting smiles. The scary spider leaves no doubt about her intentions. What a cunning expression! There is no doubt that we need to keep away from this web. It's a trap!
Whether you are stitching a sweet little garden spider or an obviously sinister Halloween arachnid, either colorful mug rug is sure to bring a smile to anyone who sees it. It's a perfect size to hold a cup and a small snack, and it will brighten any table or desktop.
The mug rug is quickly stitched with fusible web applique and a little simple embroidery.
The pattern includes five pages of complete instructions with photos, full size templates for the applique pieces for both spiders, a full size design of the web, and a full size layout plan.
