This pdf document contains the pattern for the LOCOMOTIVE from the Chugging Along pattern.
What could you do with this pattern?
- enlarge the locomotive by 200 or 250% and use it for a pillow or as the centre of a baby quilt.
-Combine two blocks and turn them into a pillow.
-Make more pillows of all various train cars and one locomotive. By rearranging the pillows, the train will be rearranged!
-Make a long quilted strip of trains to act as a bumper pad in a todler(tm)s bed.
-Make a long quilted strip of trains as a cushion for a bench.
-Create a wall hanging of various rows of trains.
-Create a quilt of rows of trains and scenery.
-Create a quilt with train tracks twisting and turning.
You will need the corner blocks for this! Think of this traintrack as a maze. The train could go up, down, right and left en even upside down! If you choose this option, please use a uniform background fabric and not a sky and grass/ground fabric. This may not work as you are turning the blocks!
There are also different sets of the Chugging Along pattern available as well as all indivual blocks. You can customize your selection!
Please download the free Chugging Along - Print & Play document to select your desired blocks.
In this document you can find all of the blocks in the Chugging Along pattern. Print the Print & Play-pages and cut out all of the blocks. Now lay out your desired train set. Refer back to the Print & Play document when deciding which blocks to get. Find the set that matches your personal selection of blocks and note which other blocks you desire.
Most of the patterns in this set are 8 x 8 inches square finished
There are some blocks that are 4 x 8 inches finished and there is even one block that is 20 x 8 inches. (This particular Bridge block is not part of this set, but can be bought seperately if so desired)
The paper piecing (foundation piecing) of the several parts of the blocks is relatively easy (difficulty level 2 or 3 stars out of 5). Most blocks are made up of squares and rectangular pattern parts. There are some blocks that have other shapes in them, but these are not much harder than the others. In general the blocks are beginner-friendly! Once you get the hang of the wheels of the train cars, you can do all of the other blocks!
Each block in this set has its own pdf document with some tips.
The documents do not contain a paper piecing tutorial!
The pattern also does not contains cutting instructions or information on how much fabric to use. Many of these block scan be finished with fabric scraps!
Each document will contain a colouring page you can print out. You can think up your own colour combinations.
All of the pattern parts are drawn with seam allowences for easy piecing.
