Catherine Wheels

from Meadowside Designs
(7) Name: 'Quilting : Catherine Wheels
Catherine Wheels Catherine Wheels

Pattern Description:

I love putting two blocks together and making something unexpected. This reminded me of the Catherine Wheel fireworks I loved when I was small. But you could make the background a sky blue and have them as the windmills from sandcastles. It may look complicated but is constructed from two very simple blocks. I have included a design sheet for you to colour your quilt before you start cutting.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 34 inches square

  • 1 1/2 yards background fabric (dark blue or black)
  • 1/2 yd (total) for 'wheels' or 13 colours each 18 inches x 3 inches
  • 1 yd wadding
  • 1 yd backing
  • 1/2 yd binding
  • quilting thread - glittery or metallic

You Will Also Need:

  • rotary cutter, ruler and mat
