Basic Skills Necessary:

  • The instructions included in this pattern make it possible for everyone to be successful if you chose to hand applique.
  • The flower can be hand or machine stitched. It can also be fused. Choose the method that works for you.

Pattern Description:

I have been sewing and crafting most of my life. I took a quilting class and fell in love. My determination to learn applique lead me to design Innovative Applique.

I wanted: to eliminate tasks like tracing templates and placement guides, create accurate shapes that did not involve years of practice and dimension without cutting and stuffing.

Innovative Applique answers all those needs.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Approximately 21" x 18" depending on border size.

Materials:

  • Background fabric- approximately 16" x 18".
  • Border material and binding- FQ-1/2 yd, depending on the size of the border.
  • Backing material- FQ-1/2 yd, determined by finished size.
  • Flower material- Your choice of colors, best if fabrics are pre-washed.
  • Thread- colors to match applique pieces, background and binding.
  • Batting- Determined by finished size, plus 8" x 11" to create applique dimension. A low loft bat works best.

You Will Also Need:

  • C Jenkins 8 1/2" x 11 " freezer paper sheets.
  • Perfect Piecing by June Tailor
  • Print n Fuse
  • Roxanne's Glue Baste-It, please purchase the new accordion designed bottle. It makes application so much easier.
  • A pointed tool to turn the edge of the applique pieces.
  • Needle of your choice.
  • Thimble of your choice.
