Pattern Description:

I was determined to applique. I tried a number of different methods but my results left a lot to be desired. So I developed Innovative Applique.

No tracing, no pins, no ripping anything out of the back of your work. This method increases your accuracy and productivity. Beginners are surprised they can applique. Experienced quilters find they can complete projects much faster.

An added bonus creates trapunto without stuffing. You will be amazed.

The products I recommend make the process so easy.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Appoximately 18" x 18" depending on the size of the border you chose.


  • Background fabric- appoximately 16" x 18".
  • Border material and binding- FQ-1/2 yd, depending on the size of the border.
  • Backing material- FQ-1/2 yd, determined by finished size.
  • Leaf material- Your choice of colors, best if fabrics are pre-washed.
  • Thread- colors to match applique pieces, background and binding.
  • Batting- Determined by finished size, plus 8" x 11" to create applique dimension. A low loft bat works best.

You Will Also Need:

  • Your local quilt shop can order any of these products.
  • C Jenkins 8 1/2" x 11 " freezer paper sheets.
  • Perfect Piecing by June Tailor
  • Print n Fuse
  • Roxanne's Glue Baste-It, please purchase the new accordian designed bottle. It makes application so much easier.
  • A pointed tool to turn the edge of the appliqu pieces.
  • Needle of you choice.
  • Thimble of your choice.
  • OLFA rotary mat 6" x 8" a good surface to work on.
  • These products eliminate half the prep work. Please purchase the exact brand recommended. The recommeded products have been choosen because they work best.
