Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic quilting skills and machine applique skills.

Pattern Description:

Brutus T. Dog is sitting pretty just for you. 44" by 50" baby quilt is an easy machine applique pattern that includes simple sashing borders. Add more blocks to enlarge your quilt.

Pattern includes applique master placement sheet, applique templates (templates include 1/4" seam lines for hand applique and cutting lines for machine stitched applique for your preference), fabric requirements and full instructions.

I would consider this pattern as an easy to intermediate project with some pattern transfer and applique experience.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 44 in. by 50 in.


  • Backing and batting: 1 1/2 yards each or 50" x 55" cuts Binding: 1/2 yard Background squares: 1 1/3 yard total-Nine 12 1/2" by 14 1/2" squares of various fabrics. Sashing: 3/4 yard Sashing squares: 1/4 yard Brutus body: approx. 1 yard of various scraps Brutus Belly: approx. 1/4 yard o various scraps Collar: approx. 1/8 yard of various scraps Collar spikes: small scrap of silver or gray Eyes and Teeth: approx. 1/8 yard or less of white fabric Nose, and black eye: approx. 1/8 yard or less of black fabric Freezer paper or preferred template materials.
