My daughter has chosen some fabrics she would like me to use in her next quilt. How many different fabrics do you recommend for this quilt?

I'd start with at least 9 fabrics for the block backgrounds.

Can I buy a paper pattern instead of pdf?

Yes, if you are in Canada or the US, but not on Craftsy. (I can only sell the PDF version here.) There are paper patterns in my shop - amandamurphydesign.bigcartel.com.

This line was produced almost 4 years ago, so unfortunately you can no longer find it anywhere - I don't even have it. The good news is that you can use any layer cake or combination of 10" squares on the market. I have a line called Topiary available for Blend Fabrics right now you can find at fabric.com but it is a different look. You should be able to find something just right for you - there are lots of possible color combinations!

As always I just LOVE Amanda Murphy Designs .. I am always inspired and enjoy all the little twists she incorporates in her designs and Deb has done a fab job with the quilting. The echo stitching on the flowers brings the flowers alive and the choice of white fabric and white stitching just completes the whole quilt and brings it together creating so much movement. I love it ...

Love the quilt--curious about the fabric. Is it a particular line or a combination of what you had on hand?

It was a line called "veranda" I designed almost 4 years ago, but you can use any combination of 72 (10") squares, plus fabric for blossoms and borders.

How you you put white flowers on bright colored fabrics and not see the color thru the white fabric?

Actually, you only apply fusible to the edge of the petals and cut away the background before joining the blocks.
Instructions for this are in the pattern.

I made this quilt for my baby girl and it turned out so sweet. I used my regular machine and old vintage sheets. So feminine yet fun and sassy too. It was an easy quilt... I used a regular copy machine and reduced the pattern a touch to have more squares on a baby quilt size. I couldn't be happier with overall quilt. :)

I am a beginner can I use my regular sewing machine to make this?

Amanda Murphy on craftsy.com

Yes you can - if you have a buttonhole style stitch that is great for the applique. If not use a tight zigzag stitch (satin stitch) for the applique.
