  • how to use a rotary cutter and mat
  • piecing with 1/4" seams
  • trace designs
  • use fusible web
  • how to add quilt binding

Pattern Description:

This fast, fun seasonal project has been created to give the beginning appliqu student a quick and easy project that can be finished in a hurry. In addition, the spacious background provides lots of room for your free motion machine quilting practice, and the zig zag border uses some fast easy piecing techniques. Proudly display it on your wall, door, patio, fence, wherever your fancy takes you. Resize the designs to use them on table-runners, wall hangings, tea towels, totes - you name it!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished size is 181/2" x 241/2".


  • Background, flying geese, and binding: 1 metre or yd
  • Contrast small stripe and flying geese: fat quarter
  • Assorted fabric scraps for appliqu pieces
  • Backing and Batting: 2/3 metre or yd

You Will Also Need:

  • Fusible web: 1/2 yd (or two sheets if you buy the packages).
  • Spray adhesive or basting pins
  • Stabilizer
  • Threads to match fabric and appliqu pieces
