Thanks for taking a peek at my shop, KinderGarden Designs. I love making quilts, but my real passion is designing them. Designing unique patterns that would appeal to the imagination of a child inspires me.
I was in education for 17 years with a degree in early childhood education. I taught kindergarten for 10 of those years, hence the name KinderGarden Designs.
I have a beautiful little granddaughter Sydney, who has inspired many of the quilts I've designed.
I would love to see a picture of your quilt when your project is complete. It's fun to see the fabric patterns and colors that make the quilt uniquely yours.
On those cold winter nights in Alaska, I would make my grandchildren Alphabet Soup. This was a great opportunity to teach them the letters of the alphabet and the beginning sounds for each vegetable we put in the pot. My poor grandchildren had a kindergarten teacher for a grandmother! ha
I had been thinking about making an alphabet childrens' quilt and this memory inspired me to make my alphabet soup quilt pattern.
There is a large bowl and spoon at the bottom of the quilt and a can of soup at the top which pours out the letters and vegetables into the bowl below. I used capital and lower case letters and a few vegetables that most children are familiar with.
The quilt has one center block that measures 32" x 41" with three borders making the overall size of the quilt 43" x 52".
I hope you enjoy making this quilt and would love to see a picture when you have finished.
Make sure you have a color cartridge in your printer so that you can see the fabric suggestions.
