Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cut fabric with a rotary cutter and ruler
  • sew an accurate 1/4 inch seam
  • quilt
  • sew a double fold binding to finish

Pattern Description:

Inspired by the brick houses near my grandparents' home. Make a sweet and simple quilt using this original, Jelly Roll friendly pattern.

This pattern uses 2.5 inch wide strips of fabric. You can use pre-cut strips such as Jelly Rolls or cut your own if you prefer.

The pattern contains complete instructions and plenty of colour diagrams to lead you step-by-step from fabric through to finished quilt. Instructions are given for small cot, cot and single bed sized quilts.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • small cot (34" x 42"), cot (42" x 50"), single (58" x 82")

Materials:

  • For the small cot size, you will need 13 2.5 inch x WOF strips of coloured fabric and 12 2.5 inch x WOF strips of background fabric
  • For the cot size, you will need 20 2.5 inch x WOF strips of coloured fabric and 15 2.5 inch x WOF strips of background fabric
  • For the single size, you will need 40 2.5 inch x WOF strips of coloured fabric and 34 2.5 inch x WOF strips of background fabric
  • For the small cot size, you will also need 1.5 yards of backing fabric and 1/2 yard for binding
  • For the cot size, you will also need 2.75 yards of backing fabric and 1/2 yard for binding
  • For the single size, you will need 5 yards of backing fabric, and 3/4 yard for binding
  • All fabric requirements are based on a useable width of fabric (WOF) of 42 inches

  • rotary cutter, mat & ruler
  • sewing machine
  • sewing thread
  • scissors
  • pins
  • wadding (batting)
