Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Basic rotary cutting; piecing; quilting

Pattern Description:

This tote is tall and wide and was specifically designed to accommodate a large throw and an extra sweatshirt for a day at the beach or an outing to the park. It's also the perfect size for hauling a bunch of binders and folders, so it makes a great gift for a favorite teacher!

The wide, uninterrupted middle panel shows off a large- scale or favorite theme print, making this a great tote for gift-giving.

Directions are included for adding ribbon ties or magnetic snap closures, as well as for adjusting the handle length, if necessary.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 17" wide x 15" tall x 4" deep


  • 1/3 yd fabric for handles
  • 1/2 yd fabric for middle strip and pockets
  • 1/4 yd fabric for bottom strip
  • 1 fat quarter (18" x 21") for binding

You Will Also Need:

  • 1-1/4 yds medium weight interfacing
  • 3/4 yd fusible fleece or batting
  • 2 snaps (optional); 2 yds ribbon (optional)
