"Though you wouldn't expect it from the fun, quirky illustrations she is known for, Sue Marsh possesses a background in software engineering. This highly technical background provided her with the ideal skill-set for quilt and pattern design. After 15 years working in the information industry as a software engineer, she decided to make her passionate hobby a fulltime venture and launched Whistlepig Creek Productions, her pattern design company. Whistlepig Creek has found great success in its 10 year history, with an extensive website and mail-order business thriving. "I use math-especially trigonometry and geometry-more in quilting than in software developement!" Since she was a child, Sue Marsh has always been drawing characters. Her hand-drawn illustrations reflect a sense of youthfulness, whimsy and fun. Sue has a background in fabric design, having created multiple lines of fabric for RJR Fabrics. Sue's fun, lighthearted collections of novelty prints appeal to both kids and the young-at-heart!"View all patterns by designer (86) »
This bag was inspired by it's larger counterpart, the Sweet Retreat Bag. This perfectly sized tote is strong enough to carry books, laptops, and anything else you throw into it! The tote is quilted and the handles go around the bottom, offering extra support. The bag looks much more complicated than it actually is! The entire thing is constructed flat until the sides are added at the very end. There are two styles included in the pattern, a checker version made with a jelly-roll or bali-pop and a whole cloth version. The bag looks great with fun large prints! There are pockets on the front, back, sides, and inside of the bag. The zipper is optional but incredibly easy to add!
