Basic Skills Necessary:

  • This pattern does walk through all steps with pictures and diagrams

Pattern Description:

The Book Club Bag is a sturdy book or tech bag with a top snap closure and a variety of interior pockets.

Not just for books, this easy-to-sew bag is tech-savvy too! The customizable large interior pocket can be sewn to fit a typical e-reader or tablet, or it can be customized to exactly fit the e-reader/tablet you own. In addition, an inside zippered pocket keeps valuables safe and an additional subdivided pocket can keep loose items organized.

I designed this bag to hold a books or an e-reader or tablet for a book club. I wanted to create something that was sturdy and kept a kindle or other e-reader in a separate pocket to protect it more.

I also was interested in creating a fun technique with strips. This pattern will show you how to sew a bag with strips. Note that the strips show more on the back and the front using the simple trick in the pattern.
