Pattern Description:

The humble pick-up stick has amazing patterning power. With it you can create a third shed that allows you to break the normal over/under configuration.

This reversible runner, will transform you into a pick-up artist by allowing you to master warp and weft floats and learn how and when to combine them. Along the way learn the art of hemstitchinga weaver's favorite finish worked right on the loom.

Included are Yarnworker's signature step-by-step photos and instructions as well as invaluable tips on weaving well.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 32" 63/4" with 1" fringe


  • Yarn: Lanaknits Designs Hemp for Knitting; 165 yd/lb 31/2 oz per skein (754 yd/lb); DK weight 100% hemp; shown in Dusty Rose and Cinnamon; 1 ball each. You should have enough yarn to make 2 runners if woven on one warp (see warp length).
  • Tools: Rigid-heddle loom with at least a 71/2" weaving width; 8-dent rigid heddle; pick-up stick at least 8" long; shuttle; tapestry needle
