Skill Level:

intermediate skill level requirement Advanced

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Tatting basics, tatting with two shuttles, hinding ends.

Pattern Description:

This is my own original tatting design, created as a pattern in pdf format. In size 20 thread, this little motif will measure approximately 7/8" wide and 1" tall (without beads or ear wires).

I would call this an intermediate level tatting pattern that uses two shuttles, rings, chains, picots, joins, lock joins, and beads. The bead work is fully explained and involves learning to "sew" a bead cluster onto your tatting, a method of adding beads I really enjoy.

The written long-hand instructions are in English. The pattern contains a scan of the earrings with the stitch count laid over the scan, as well as a pictorial diagram of the bead cluster technique in the pattern.

The pattern file size is approximately 156 KB, and is in pdf format. It is necessary to have Adobe Reader on your computer in order to open this file, but you can get that program for free at

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • With size 20 thread, the motif itself is about 7/8" x 1". The beaded version will be about 1" wide and 2" long (depending on your choice of beads and ear wires).

  • tatting shuttle, thin large-eye needle, very tiny crochet hook, 4 yds tatting thread, 18 seed beads and two coordinating larger beads.

You Will Also Need:

  • Ear wires of your choice.

A love of this beautiful lost art consumed me.

Tatting is a form of ...
