Pattern Description:

I love the elegance of the blown glass ornaments on my Christmas tree. These instructions are for a wonderful, whimsical closed wing moth or butterfly. Blown glass beads are also known as Mercury glass beads because of the shiny silver coating applied to the inside of the glass. They are difficult to find, because there is only one company (located in the Czech Republic) that continues to manufacture these beautiful beads. I have created this design with beads that are available in the US.
This pattern will provide information about finding the proper materials / beads needed to complete the ornament. And of course the pattern also includes detailed instructions, with color photos, on how to create your very own heirloom, blown glass ornament.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

2.5 inches X 3 inches

Materials:

22 gauge wire
One 1.75 inch quilted blown glass drop bead
One 8mm blown glass round bead
Two 11mm oval blown glass beads
Two 0.5 inch drop blown glass beads
Twelve 15mm length bugle beads
Two 4mm diameter blown glass tube bead with 8 bumps
Four 5mm diameter blown glass tube beads with 3 bumps
11 glass craft beads ~4mm in diameter
Round tipped needle nose pliers
