Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should know how to knit in rounds and be familiar with increases/decreases. You have to graft (kitchener stitch) and make an I-cord. A tutorial (with plenty pictures) on both are included in the pattern instructions.

Pattern Description:

The walrus hand puppet is designed to fit a childs hand, but it also fits smaller adult hands.
The walrus puppet is part of my "a puppet a week"-project.

For non-commercial use only.
This pattern is also available in german.

This is a pattern, no finished puppet.

22 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in stockinette

Gauge is not THAT important for this handpuppet. I recommend using yarn of the gauge above or thicker. If you use thinner yarn, the puppet might get to small.

  • 20g brown yarn
  • 3 yards white yarn
  • 2 yards light pink
  • 1 yard black yarn
  • 1 yard light brown yarn
