Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Garter (knit) Stitch
  • Knitting in the round on dpns

Pattern Description:

Knit your own cuddly pumpkin heads (5" tall and 6" wide). This pumpkin head is easy to make and would be a great Halloween gift, decoration or party favor.

For an ADVANCED BEGINNER knitter. The pumpkin is mostly knitted flat on straight needles using short row shaping (fully explained in the pattern). The stalk is knitted in the round on dpns. There is only one sewn seam.

6.5 stitches and 9 rows in stockinette stitch = 1"

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 5" tall and 6" wide


  • Approx 60 yards of Orange Worsted weight yarn
  • Approx 4 yards of Green worsted weight yarn
  • US size 5 (3.75 mm) needles or size needed to obtain gauge
  • US size 5 (3.75 mm) double pointed needles (dpns)
  • Fiberfill
  • Tapestry Needle

You Will Also Need:

  • 2 Buttons for eyes

Suggested yarn:

65 yards of Worsted weight
