Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Cast on, cast off, knit stitch, purl stitch, knit two stitches together, pass stitch over, make stitches using backward loop method, working with changes of colour.

Pattern Description:

Looking out across a loch, surrounded by mountains is a little croft house with a red roof. This knitting pattern was inspired by that house which is located on the Applecross Peninsular, West Coast of Scotland. Make this mini knitted croft house as a child's toy or use as a sewing accessory pincushion.


Approximately 24 stitches x 40 rows over 10cm (4 inches) in stocking stitch.


  • Main colour A: Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino #101 Ecru or Jamiesons of Shetland DK natural white #104 Colour B: Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino #340700 or Jamiesons of Shetland DK crimson #525 Colour C: Stylecraft Kon-tiki Cotton DK in Slate or Jamiesons of Shetland granite #122

You Will Also Need:

  • Pair of 2.75 mm (US 2) knitting needles
  • Blunt tapestry needle Sheet foam 1 inch thick cut to shape OR Wadding Scissors
