Doll/Doll Clothing

Skill Level:

little skill level requirement Novice

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit, crochet (chain stitch).

Pattern Description:

I love this knitting pattern for a 1957 7-1/2" Ideal Little Betsy Wetsy. Betsy enjoys playing outside with Auntie Cissy and she will be nice and warm in her handmade sweater and bonnet.

The pattern uses size US 2/2.75 needles. I prefer circular needles because it helps to have a little stretch as the pattern expands. The sweater is knit from the neck down.

With a little guidance from a friend, a book, or an online video, a beginner can tackle this project. I wrote it out line by line, and very clearly, with a space before each row so you can check off each completed row.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Doll size 7-1/2".

  • US 2/2.75 mm needles; B1 crochet hook

You Will Also Need:

  • Sewing thread; 3 ea 1/4 buttons; tapestry needle

Suggested yarn:

80 yards of Fingering weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Knit Picks Palette

I love to design, sew, knit and crochet for dolls. When I was a child my mother would insist on making anything we wanted from scratch, and she taught us well. Her work was to die for, so it was fun learning from her.
