Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knitting Hugo is done both flat and in the round, with the stitches knit, purl, lifted increases, knit 2 together and slip stitch over.

Pattern Description:

Hugglephants are like elephants, only their trunks are extra-long for hugging!

Hugo the Hugglephant dreams of becoming an acrobat when he grows up. He enjoys spending his time by rehearsing fun tricks, like standing on his head!

The PDF pattern has many pictures and easy to follow, row-for-row instructions on how to make a big hugglephant called Hugo. It can also be used to make a regular elephant (instructions included).

Gauge:

24 stitches and 32 rows = 10x10 cm / 4x4" in stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 30 cm / 12" tall, sitting down

Materials:

  • double-pointed knitting needles (4 mm - US 5-6 - UK 8)
  • yarn (a main colour plus a little bit of black for Hugo's features)
  • stuffing
  • embroidery needle

Suggested yarn:

550 yards of DK weight
