Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Knit in the round, short-row shaping. Optional (for face) embroidery

Pattern Description:

I designed this for my niece's birthday. It was a moose because she seemed to need something other than the usual Teddy Bear. She's the one who decided it needed to be called "Goose".

The pattern includes directions for the moose, a striped sweater, and the snowflake sweater.


gauge will vary depending on the weight of yarn chosen.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Using light-weight (fingering) yarn, the toy will be about 20" ( 51 cm) tall. With worsted weight yarn, the moose will be closer to 26" (66 cm).


  • To make the moose, you'll need roughly 400-500 yds of yarn for the moose, 200-300 yds of yarn for the sweater, 40-130 yds for antlers and snowflakes or stripes on the sweater. And a few yards of black or other dark yarn to embroider the face.

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch markers, double-point needles, tapestry needle long enough to sew on the arms.

Suggested yarn:

500 yards of DK weight
