Basic Skills Necessary:

  • udy's Magic Cast-On, Provisional Cast-On, Kitchener Stitch, knit in the round all in one seamless piece.

Pattern Description:

Bear is a perfect gift for new babies but with it's modern simplicity it also has a broad appeal for all ages...and it is a SUPER FUN knit for you- it's knit and finished in one piece!

Bear starts with Judy's Magic Cast-on and is knit in one-piece using various join-as-you-go techniques and a provisional cast-on gusset. When you kitchener that last paw closed you are done! Easy peasie stuff for intermediate knitter. If you run into trouble, pattern support is always just an email away.

Approx 180 yds of worsted weight yarn, knitting gauge 22 sts and 30 rows to 4". Recommend Polyfil(r) Silky Soft for stuffing. Finishes at 9.5" long, 7" tall and 3" wide. A perfect size!

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finishes at 9.5" long, 7" tall and 3" wide


  • YARN approx 180 yds worsted weight yarn and several yards of smooth yarn or string for Provisional Cast On and use as a flexible stitch holder
  • NEEDLES US size 4/3.5mm 40" soft cable needle or set (5) double pointed, same size straight or dbl pointed needle
  • NOTIONS split ring stitch marker, large yarn needle, small stitch holders, Polyfil(r) Silky Soft
