a faux fair isle sweater dress for 18" Dolls
Fall, the most inspirational time of the year for me, inspired also by my love of fair isle stitch patterns, 'Ayanna' is worked without the need for experience in stranded color work, as I made use of slipped stitches worked in pattern throughout to achieve the look of fair isle for this stylish sweater dress, along with line-by-line written instructions.
~ Debonair Designs
Pattern Note: Models wearing Ayanna paired with my Newsboy Cap worked without peak (cap not included in pattern)
Pattern Features: The faux fair isle is achieved with the use of slipped stitches, thereby avoiding the traditional stranded color work, written out with line-by-line instructions given, including back button hole placement. Set in 3/4 length sleeves and a ribbed stitch turtle neck worked from picked up stitches complete the look.
Construction: Worked from the bottom up in one piece to armholes, then each section is worked individually
Materials Used: Lion Brand's Heartland aran weight yarn in the Yosemite colorway (main color) modeled by Julia, pictured at right, along with Great Smokey Mountains (main color) modeled by Katie, pictured at left
" I just wanted to say I bought your pattern 'Ayanna' yesterday, and am really enjoying it! It is my first doll pattern I have knitted, and I am quite a beginner knitter. I decided to go for your pattern as it appealed to me and I wanted something to take me out of my comfort zone.
I have had my Mum round tonight, as she is quite an experienced knitter, just to be on hand to help me get into the faux fair isle pattern, but I can honestly say that the pattern is well written enough to be able to follow it. It s an absolute joy to knit! Thank you!" Paula
