Look at the knitted picture from directly in front and you will see only stripes. Look at it from the side and you will see the image appear.
The knitted panel could be used as a wall-hanging, or part of a bed-covering. The pattern includes information to help you understand how illusion knitting works. It has charts in various sizes, including one specially for tablet use, so you can use whichever you find most convenient.
The knitting is very easy. If you can knit and purl you can make this but it will take a long time because it is big.
Any smooth yarn can be used. The panel is 230 stitches high and 362 rows wide. The size will depend on the yarn you choose and how tightly you knit. The version shown measures about 83 cm by 96 cm.
Photographs cannot convey the WOW factor of illusion knits. Follow the link to our web site to see a video though it is still nowhere near as good as seeing the real thing.
Steve Plummer and Pat Ashforth are world experts in Illusion Knitting.
**The hanging shown in the photos has now been acquired by Ripley's Believe It or Not! The pattern is still available for everyone.**
