from Marilyn King-Black Water Abbey Yarns
(6) Name: 'Knitting : Vitruvia Vest and Cardigan
Vitruvia Vest and Cardigan Vitruvia Cardigan
Vitruvia Vest and Cardigan Vitruvia Vest

Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Turn a cable, pick up stitches

Pattern Description:

This vest features traditional cables with a large cable placed at the shoulders. It is knitted flat from the bottom up and sewn together. The cabled button bands are knitted as part of the vest fronts then extend as a band around the back neck edge. Short row shaping is used for shoulder shaping and to shape the neck band. The pattern includes sleeves for a cardigan version as well.

While there is no waist shaping, choosing a size with no ease will create the illusion of shaping. The "Vitruvia Cardigan" shows an example of the sweater worn with ease.

Our vest sample is knitted in sport weight "Ecru". The cardigan is knitted in sport weight "Cinnamon".
