I'm a twenty-something Pacific North westerner living in Olympia, Washington. I first learned to knit in the Fall of 2005 and after much self-teaching and practice, began designing my own patterns in early 2010. I know I'm not alone when I say I can't imagine life without my knitting! :)View all patterns by designer (15) »
Twylem is an elegant yet cozy, slightly oversized cardigan featuring cascading cables, reverse stockinette or classic stockinette*, and multidirectional rib details which all come together to create a beautiful balance of complementary textures.
This cardigan is knit seamlessly from the top down using set-in sleeve construction. Beginning with collar extension pieces which will later be joined at the center back neck using a three-needle bind off, the yoke and bodice are knit first to the bottom hem. Stitches are then picked up along the front edges of the sweater for the Collar lining and bottom ribbing. Finally, stitches are picked up around the armholes for the sleeves, which are initially shaped with short rows and then worked seamlessly in the round from the top down.
Picture tutorials for the Invisible Provisional Cast On and for the seaming technique used for the collar, as well as links to the accompanying YouTube video tutorials, are included.
