Pattern Description:

A simple, loose-fit little sweater, in stocking stitch, with garter stitch bands and long, short, or cap sleeves. The front has a removable and replaceable panel, fastened with buttons.
Make spare panels, in different colours, plain or with motifs - for when baby makes a mess down the front, or just for variety.
The pattern has charts for seven easy motifs, to add later with duplicate stitch.
Four sizes, 3 sleeves, 7 motifs, plain or striped = lots of variations!

Gauge:

22 sts, 30 rows to 10 cm in stocking stitch, with 8 ply/DK yarn on 3.5 mm (US 4) needles.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • newborn to 2 yrs: To fit chest sizes 40, 45, 51, 55 cms /16",18", 20", 22"

Materials:

  • DK/8 ply yarn
  • 0-3 months size: 120 gms for long sleeves,
  • 3-6 months size: 145 gms for long sleeved version
  • 6-12 months size: 190 gms for long sleeved version
  • 1-2 years size: 250 gms for long sleeved version
  • plus between 13 and 20 gms for each extra front panel
  • 8 (10, 10, 12) buttons 1 - 2 cms diameter

You Will Also Need:

  • 1 pair 3.5 mm (US 4) needles
  • a 4 mm (US 6) needle for casting off
  • tapestry needle for seams and duplicate stitch
  • 3 stitch holders or large safety pins
  • 4 small safety pins or locking stitch markers
