This striped jumper is knitted seamlessly with a provisional cast on from the top down. The yoke is shaped with short rows at the end so that the back will be higher than the front.
The construction is quite easy:
Raglan sleeves, a wide boat neck and very fitted sleeves balance out the wide A- shaped bottom so that the finished garment looks equally elegant and cozy.
And there are side pockets, too! Picked up and knitted in fingering yarn and smaller needles to keep the pockets thin, since nobody wants any bulk near the belly area... for obvious reasons!
Use bright colours or more toned down ones, but keep in mind that the result will be nicer if you use the same colour family or if you combine similar shaded colours.
When you buy this pattern you actually get 2 PDF files in one zip-file: It is the same pattern, in english and in french.
17 sts and 24 rows in 10 cm/4" in St st
on 5,5mm/ US 9 needles, after blocking.
I am quite taken by any combination of stripes and I love it when colour seems to give a whole new and unexpected shape to a project.
I am also very interested in everything related to seamless construction, not really because I hate seaming so much... it is just that knitting becomes much more interesting when it gets three-dimensional!
Like sculpting with yarn!!!
