Hi Jill, I'm with Elena on not knowing what yarn to use. I have yarn that is a cotton weight worsted. I have enough so I guess I need to do a swatch also.
Hi, this pattern is more suited to a laceweight yarn. This ensure the cardi is light enough to wear all year. Once you have worn a laceweight cardi you will want nothing else. The gauge is 26stsx36 rows so this helps it to be a very relaxing project - ideal for TV or knitting in comapany!
Hello! I love this sweater! Am considering purchasing the pattern, and wondering if you can tell me if you think it could be made with this yarn: http://www.craftsy.com/supplies/Tahki-Kismet-Yarn/2950 - It is listed as "worsted" but is definitely much finer than that - more like a typical mohair yarn, almost lace-weight, but with fuzzy/halo. I have 10 balls of the yarn (2500 yards) and would like sweater to be sized XXL... Think that would work? If I can figure out which needles to use that would match your gauge, would that be about right? (I'm at a beginner level in knitting) Thanks for any input! :)
Jill, you would need to do a gauge swatch to see how the yarn behaved at the gauge in the pattern. If you are happy then you could use it. I have not seen the yarn first hand so not really sure that it would work successfully - the 'halo' on the yarn is probably why worsted gauge is recommended. However if you think the swatch is okay then you could use it.
Thank you, Elena! I will do a swatch and see how it works... I've just learned that I also need to block the swatch before deciding... so much to learn!! :)
