These booties are just what is needed. A lot of south african ladies knit for Charities such as the babies delivered at Baragwaneth Hospital. They are easy to knit and stay on. Thank you. Myra Passmoor

If you make a small ball from your wool for the top of the foot, you don't need to cut the yarn at the side which means less ends to sew in.

Friends have knit this pattern, they said it was a bit confusing at first, but figured it out. The booties are adorable. I've just learned a friend is expecting in Oct, so I'll make some for her new babe.

Look up Baby Uggs on www.thingsforboys.com. Very similar and the instructions are very clear. I made them in Debbie Bliss Cashmerino so they are super soft

It says to use 4 DPNs. How do you get a garter stitch on DPN's? Thank you.

Under the cuff instructions, where it says "work in garter st for 10 rows", does that mean 10 total (back and forth 10 times), or 10 garter rows (back and forth 20 times)?

Hmm. Was just about to knit this, but like others am confused about why it states 4 DPN when the pattern itself indicates that it's knitted on two needles! Having knitted a few things, it doesn't seem to be quite clear, so to avoid something else in my 'it didn't work out pile', I'll pass for now!

I am confused by this pattern. Do you work in the round when you cast on the 15 sts. ?Not sure why the pattern calls for 4 DPNs if you do not work in round. I am a beginner and this pattern is confusing to me. Any help would be appreciated.

4 dpn's,
you'll knit on two and use the other two as stitch holders. Can also be knit on straights, then you'll need to have stitch holders as well.

The cut yarn is to be weaves in at the end of the pattern, so leave enough to finish it off nicely

at the end it says to split the remaining stitches onto two needles, then weave them together. I'm not familiar with that instruction, any further explanation about that? Do I knit them together? Otherwise this is turning out very cute! I used a multi color cotton yarn.
