Basic Skills Necessary:

Pattern Description:

Bloomers are worked seamlessly top-down with short row shaping worked at the seat. When the first leg is com- plete, the second leg is worked using held stitches from the hip section and picking up stitches at the crotch.

Bloomers are designed to be worn with 3-6 in/7.5-15 cm of ease. Garment in photograph has 5 in/13 cm of ease on model. Choose the size 3-6 in/7.5-15 cm larger than desired hip measurement. Measure at the largest part of the hips.

Lace edging pattern is given in both written and charted instructions.

Pattern has been tested and edited for accuracy and clarity.

Gauge:

23 stitches and 28 rows = 4 inches in St st

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Hip Circumference: 37 (40, 43, 46, 49, 52, 55) in/94 (101.5, 109, 117, 124.5, 132, 139.5) cm

Materials:

  • 435 (470, 505, 550, 575, 610, 645) yd/395 (430, 460, 505, 525, 555, 590) m DK weight yarn
  • Needle Sizes are recommendations only. Always use needle size necessary to obtain gauge.
  • US #4/3.5 mm 32 in circular needles
  • US #5/3.75 mm 32 in circular needles
  • US #5/3.75 mm 16 in circular needles
  • US #5/3.75 mm set double pointed needles for lace edging

You Will Also Need:

  • 70 (76, 80, 86, 92, 98, 104) in/178 (193, 203, 218, 234, 249, 264) cm ribbon for waistband drawstring
  • two 46 (50, 54, 58, 62, 66, 68) in/116 (128, 138, 148, 158, 168, 172) cm ribbons for leg drawstrings
  • tapestry needle
  • place markers
  • waste yarn
  • six .5 in/1 cm buttons
