Basic Skills Necessary:

  • cast on
  • knit
  • purl
  • cast on stitches in the middle of a row
  • basic cables (explained in pattern)
  • picking up stitches along an edge
  • bind off

Pattern Description:

Designed with origami-like construction techniques, this cardigan requires minimal shaping. Start with a rectangle, and end with a T shape that is folded in two places and secured with ribbing! Stitches are picked up around the collar and the horseshoe cable is attached seamlessly as you knit it.

The best way to get an idea of what size you'll want to make is to have someone put a tape measure around your body and both arms in the various finished measurements given, and see which one is most comfortable to you. It will obviously be quite a lot bigger than your usual size, since it has to go around your arms as well...and you want to be able to move! I suggest standing with your hands on your hips while being measured, to ensure ease of movement.
