Pattern Description:

A classic little cardigan that will keep your young one warm while apple picking and comfy when you come inside for hot cocoa and that favorite book.


16 st and 24 rows over 4 inches of stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 2T (3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-10) 21 (23, 25, 26, 28) inches, or 53 (58.5, 63.5, 67, 71) cm measured around the chest. Total length of completed garment is approximately 13.5 (14.5, 15.5, 16.5, 17.5) inches, or 34.29(36.83, 39.37, 41.91, 44.45) cm


  • 2 (3, 3.75, 4.5, 5) skeins of Malabrigo Yarn Rios (100% Merino, 210 yards, 192 meters per skein), or comparable worsted weight wool (or other natural fiber) yarn. Acrylic yarn is not recommended for this project because it is difficult to block. Blocking is essential to the garment. 

You Will Also Need:

  • US 8 (5.0mm) knitting needles
  • 4, US size 8 (5.0mm) dpns, or circular needle for magic loop
  • 36 inch (or longer), US size 7 (4.5mm) circular needle
  • US size 9 (5.5mm) needles for binding off along button band and wrists
  • 5, 1 inch buttons
