Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Working in the round, increases, decreases, picking up sts, provisional cast on, short rows.

Pattern Description:

Flower Cardigan has an unusual construction - it starts from a hexagon-shaped upper back and is worked from the centre of the flower motif outwards. The cardigan is seamless: back and fronts are worked in one piece, then raglan sleeves are knitted onto the body. Fronts are shaped with short rows. Sleeve and body length can be adjusted.

The pattern was tech edited by Rachel Brown.

Gauge:

(measured after blocking)
St st: 22 sts and 30 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in, with 4 mm needle(s)
I-cord BO: 17 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in, with 4 mm needle

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Finished bust circumference: 79 (83.5, 88, 92, 96, 100.5, 105, 113, 117.5, 126, 134.5) cm/ 31 (32.75, 34.5, 36.25, 38, 39.5, 41.25, 44.5, 46.25, 49.5, 53) in. Shown in size 100.5 cm/ 39.5 in, with 2 in of negative ease at bust and 1 in of positive ease at hips. After blocking, finished hip circumference will become 5-7 cm/ 2-3 in larger than chest circumference. The cardigan is designed to be worn either with no ease or very little positive ease at bust, otherwise the hip section will be too large. If your bust circumference is the same as, or larger than your hip circumference, choose a size with negative ease at bust.
