Emlyn: A Top-down Raglan Dress

The perfect addition to a little girl's wardrobe ~ dainty cable and lace inserts in the skirt front and back create a generous A-line silhouette; adding rope-cable details at the shoulder line, eyelet borders at bodice and hems and raglan-line ribbon lacing (or optional button closure) makes this a dress special enough for any occasion. For that final touch, lace ribbon ties through the eyelet border at the bodice.

Garment designed with 2 - 3" / 5 - 7.5cm of ease.

This top-down raglan is knit back and forth on a circular needle down to the bodice; the bodice band and skirt are then worked in the round. Sleeves are worked in the round on double-pointed needles. No seam sewing required.

After the completion of a Garter stitch neck edging, cables are added into the sleeves. The left front raglan seam line has options for either a laced or buttoned closure. The skirt front and back incorporate wedge-shaped lace-cable panel inserts which provide a slight flare to the skirt. An eyelet and Garter border is worked at the high waist (to accommodate a ribbon), as a sleeve edging and at the hem for a beautiful yet easy finish.

The side raglan opening may be closed with either ribbon lacing or buttons.

Skirt cable panels are both charted and written out.

Schematic included.
