Basic Skills Necessary:

  • knit, purl, knit/purl through back of loop, cables, sew side seams, knit in the round, pick up stitches

Pattern Description:

Steeped in the history of the Aran Islands in Galway Bay, this charming children's pullover draws on tradition while being knit of the softest fair-trade Merino / bamboo blend.

Clever Buttonhole Chains provide the closures for this pullover which sports a full width neck opening for easy dressing.

This design was the first of the 'Celtic Child' patterns from Impeccable Knits; the cables used in the Cridhe Irish Heartbeat Baby Blanket and the Cridhe Irish Heartbeat Hat patterns match this pullover pattern.

Gauge:

20.5 sts and 26 rows = 4 in / 10 cm in Stockinette stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6); Finished Chest Measurement 21 (22 1/2, 24, 25 1/2, 27, 29) inches / 53 (57, 61, 65, 69, 74) cm

Materials:

  • Yarn: 275 (335, 420, 470, 560, 650) / 253 (308, 386, 432, 515, 598) m Frog Tree Meriboo; DK weight; 105 yds / 96m per 50 g / 1.75 oz ball; 70% Merino, 30% Bamboo; in Natural (colour 000)
  • Needles: 4 mm / US 6 knitting needles and set of 4 double pointed needles

You Will Also Need:

  • 3.25 mm / US D(3) crochet hook (optional); Stitch markers; Cable needle; Stitch holder; Yarn needle for sewing side seams and weaving in ends: 2 buttons (be sure closures are of proper size for child's age so they do not present a choking hazard )
