Basic Skills Necessary:

  • You should already know how to knit and purl
  • You should have experiece knitting cables

Pattern Description:

Knitted from the top down, this traditional v-neck vest features a saddle shoulder and short-row shoulder shaping. Shoulder stitches are picked up from the saddle and the body is knitted in one piece below the armhole, so the only finishing is the ribbed neckline and armhole edges.

A versatile design- great for men and women!

Our sample is knitted in "Mid-Charcoal" worsted weight yarn.


18 sts/28 rows = 4 inches in Seed Stitch

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • 34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54" finished chest measurements


  • Yarn- 550-990 worsted weight yarn
  • Needles- size 6 (4 mm) and size 7 (4.5 mm) straight or circular
  • Cable needle, tapestry needle

You Will Also Need:

  • 6- 3/4" buttons

Suggested yarn:

220 yards of Worsted weight
