Pattern Description:
Bands of horizontal cables create an eyecatching neckline and give a fresh twist to the classic yoked children's sweater. Knit largely in the round, this is a quick piece that requires minimal finishing. Instructions are given for placing the buttons on either the left or the right side of the yoke, making the pullover suitable for either a boy or a girl.
Gauge:
21 sts x 28 rows = 4" (10 cm) in stst on US 5 (3.75 mm) needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
Sizing / Finished Measurements:
- 3 mo. (6 mo., 12 mo., 18 mo., 2 years, 4 years, 6 years, 8 years) Finished chest circumference: 19 (19.75, 21.25, 22.75, 24.75, 27, 28.5, 30)"; 48 (50, 54, 58, 63, 69, 73, 76) cm
Materials:
- 305 (340, 360, 390, 455, 520, 600, 665) yds; 279 (311, 329, 357, 416, 476, 549, 608) m light worsted or DK weight yarn (115-125 yds/105-114 m per 50g) Sample shown uses a 50% wool/50% alpaca blend.
- Size 5 US (3.75 mm) circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. For sizes 3 mo.-2 years, a 16" circular needle is suggested, for sizes 4-8 years, a 24" needle is suggested.
- Size 5 US (3.75 mm) double-pointed needles (dpn)
- Size 4 US (3.5 mm) circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge. For sizes 6 mo-4 years, a 16" circular needle is suggested, for sizes 6-10 years, a 24" needle is suggested.
