Pattern Description:

The Cambridge Shrug is a sweet, fuzzy shrug inspired by Catherine "Kate" Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge. It best evokes the shrug that Kate Middleton wore for her wedding reception when it is knit in fuzzy yarn with a soft halo.

Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Brushed Suri (67% baby suri, 22% merino, 11% bamboo; 142 yds [130m] / 1.75 oz [50 g]; #905 earl grey 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7) skeins (for three-quarter length sleeves). Additional yarn is needed for longer sleeves.

Gauge:

20 sts and 26 rows = 4" with US size 4 (3.5mm) needle in K1, P1 Rib

20 sts and 241/2 rows = 4" with US size 7 (4.5mm) needle in Stockinette

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • XS (S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL): 30 (34, 38, 41, 45, 49, 52)" / 76 (86, 96.5, 104, 114, 124.5, 132) cm Bust circumference, buttoned.

Materials:

  • Yarn: Blue Sky Alpacas Brushed Suri (67% baby suri, 22% merino, 11% bamboo; 142 yds [130m] / 1.75 oz [50 g]; #905 earl grey 4 (4, 5, 5, 6, 7, 7) skeins (for three-quarter length sleeves).
  • US size 4 (3.5mm) and US size 7 (4.5mm) circs/straights for body and dpns for sleeves
  • Optional crochet hook (~4mm) for aiding cast-on and picking up stitches.

You Will Also Need:

  • stitch holder/scrap yarn
  • 3 open stitch markers
  • 3-4 buttons

Suggested yarn:

568 yards of DK weight
