Basic Skills Necessary:

  • CO, BO, increase, decrease, pick up stitches, seam

Pattern Description:

Brighton is worked in one piece from the bottom up with the set-in sleeves worked separately. The change in gauge and needle size and slight shaping in the bodice creates the flattering A-line shape.

Gauge:

18 sts/21 rows = 4" over St st with smaller needle.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Bust: 31 1/4 (33 1/2, 35 1/4, 37 1/2, 39 1/4, 41 1/2, 43 1/4)".
  • Length: 20 1/4 (20 3/4, 21 1/4, 22 1/2, 23, 24 1/4, 24 3/4)".
  • Allow about 2" of ease at the bust for a standard fit.

Materials:

  • 690 - 1245 yards worsted weight yarn in 3 colors
  • Shown in Blue Sky Alpacas - Worsted Cotton; 100% organic cotton; 150yds (137m)/100g; Colors #616 Sky, 3 (4, 4, 5, 5, 5, 6) skeins; #614 Drift, 2 (2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3) skeins; #603 Thistle, 1 skein for all sizes.

You Will Also Need:

  • Sizes 8 and 9 (5 and 5.5mm) 29" circular needles (straight needles may be desired to work sleeves). Size may need to be adjusted to obtain gauge.
  • Stitch markers, stitch holders, tapestry needle, three 7/8" buttons.
