Pattern Description:

The Woodland Creature Hat is a really fun and cute accessory that reminds me of a fox or a squirrel! The hat is knit flat and seamed up the sides, so the corners make little ears when you put it on. It is knit entirely in stockinette stitch, so it's perfect for beginning knitters. This pattern is a one-size-fits-most pattern for adults (my head measures 21 inches in circumference and this hat fits me perfectly with plenty of stretch for larger heads, too).

For this project, you will need a set of US8/5mm straight needles, a tapestry needle, and a tape measure or ruler. You will also need a small amount of green yarn to embroider the little trees - you can use yarn leftover from another project or something special.

You will also need about 3 ounces (90 grams) of Aran 10 ply yarn. Many common craft store yarns (such as TLC and Red Heart) are Aran 10 ply. The yarn pictured is handspun camel wool from the Snow Leopard Trust (which works to preserve snow leopards in Mongolia), but you can substitute any Aran 10 ply yarn you like. The gauge for this pattern 5 stitches = 1 inch.
