Basic Skills Necessary:

  • Cable
  • Knitting in the round
  • Decreasing

Pattern Description:

You can't get much more classic than these simple cabled mittens. They're the perfect accessory for cool evenings, whether you're roasting marshmallows and sipping hot chocolate, caroling throughout the neighborhood or rooting for your favorite sports team. Slip them on and gain some winter cheer.


20 stitches = 4"/10 cm in stockinette stitch, after blocking.

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Women's Medium. Finished hand circumference of 7.5"/19 cm. Measured after blocking.


  • US #6/4mm (or size to get gauge) for working in the round (either double points, or two circulars, or one long circular for magic loop)
  • Needles one size smaller for cuffs.

You Will Also Need:

  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers (one of which is unique)
  • Cable needle

Suggested yarn:

175 yards of Worsted weight

Preferred Brand/Yarn:

Shown in Quince & Co. Lark (100% American wool; 134 yards/123 meters per 1.75 ounce/50 gram skein)
