(6) Name: 'Knitting : Winkin

Pattern Description:

The wonderful ruching texture on this slouchy hat is created by dramatically increasing and then decreasing stitches while changing needle sizes. Winkin is designed with a loose fit, but you can adjust the size by changing the CO. Just keep an even number of stitches.


23 sts = 4 in. in stockinette stitch on larger needles

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • Hat Circumference at brim: 19.5 incheshat is quite stretchy, and will fit head sizes 19-22 inches. Length to top of hat: 10 inches. The hat is designed to flop over at the top, and should be at least 5 inches taller than the distance from your ear to the crown of your head.


  • 1 Skein Pagewood Farm Chugiak (100% Superwash Merino Sock Yarn, 2-ply, tight twist, 5.5 oz, 450 yards)
  • 1 pair size 2/2.75mm, 24" circular needles
  • 1 pair size 3/3.25mm, 24" circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
