Pattern Description:

With a slipped stitch texture that celebrates the variegation of your favorite hand-dyed yarns, the Winesap Mitts are a quick and unique knit! The arm of each mitt is shaped to enhance the fit and also features four petite buttons that offer an extra-special detail.
The pattern includes three different sizes, perfect to fit every recipient on your knitting list.


41 stitches / 56 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Slip Stitch Pattern, blocked
40 stitches / 50 rows = 4" [10 cm] in Rib Pattern, blocked

Sizing / Finished Measurements:

  • To Fit: Hand circumference of approx: 61/4 (71/2, 81/2)" / 15.75 [19, 21.5] cm
  • Finished Measurements: Hand Circumference: 43/4 (61/4, 71/2)" / 14 [15.75, 19] cm Upper Arm Circumference, Buttoned: 61/2 (73/4, 91/4)" / 16.5 [19.5, 23.5] cm Length: 9 (10, 11)" / 22.75 [25.5, 28] cm


  • US 2 (2.75 mm) needles and four DPNs, or size needed to obtain gauge

You Will Also Need:

  • Two stitch markers; cable needle; tapestry needle; waste yarn; eight 7/16" [1mm] buttons; sewing thread and needle

Suggested yarn:

350 yards of Fingering weight
