I've made several different fairly loose fitting hats and the always fall down over my eyes, I find I have to push them up on my head or bobby pin them to stay in place. This looks like it would fall right over the eyes when the head moves. Any suggestions how to keep it in place?
This is a great pattern. Being able to adjust the size to fit your head is something most patterns don't offer. I appreciate the creator answering my questions so rapidly. I love the end result and have gotten many compliments on the hat. I will definitely make more.
I don't enjoy knitting with two strands. I would like to see this "use two strands' more obvious in the directions, and added to the search criteria for patterns.
There are 4 yarns suggested for this; only one (Debbie Bliss Luxury Donegal Tweed Aran) requires double-stranding. The other three are knitted with the single strand. As long as you get a gauge of 3.5 stitches per inch, you can use any bulky yarn, or combination of yarns, that you like!
I'm in the process of knitting this hat. This is my first time knitting cables and the pattern is very straightforward and easy. Its turning out great! I will definitely make more in different colors - very quick knit. Thanks!
does this hat take ALL those balls of yarn listed, or just select one?
It looks like it's a listing of the 4 different hats. I'd select just one of the bullets and purchase the 2 or 3 balls listed.
Cathi's right - this is 4 different suggestions for yarn that will work. One of them, the DB Donegal Tweed Aran, requires that you knit with two strands held together as though they were one; the other three are single strand. Choose of the four options, or another bulky yarn that knits up at 3.5 stitches per inch.
Could I use the magic loop method to knit this hat?
I'm about to buy this pattern and I was wondering if you have used the magic loop method and if so how was it?
